So our first task was to come up with a concept and then 4 words that relate to our concept. So I was having a hard time coming up with a concept and then I was talking about sushi with my husband and I decided to make that my concept! When I started thinking about it, sushi has a very cool concentric shape and could very easily be translated into a room design.
My 4 words are:
concentric
compact
hip
fresh
My design scheme must relate back to my concept and my four words.
So here's my project summery:
Design concept: This room will be designed to maximize a minimal amount of space by creating storage solutions which are multi-functional and compact. The result will be a hip, yet relaxing retreat for visitors to rest from the hustle and bustle of the college campus.
Here's a rough sketch of my furniture plan:

My interior design project
I am in my Junior year of the ID program at UNT. This year is so much fun because we are finally getting to design real spaces. Our first project is to design a one room apartment on campus. The apartment is for visiting artists and professors and it is located in an old dorm, that is now used for the ceramics studios. To say the apartment is in bad shape is an understatement. Here are the before pictures:

Looolo Textiles

Grace Bonney, a blogger for Design Sponge, just posted about a new line of textiles coming out soon. The line is called looolo textiles and I am in love! I am loving the feminine designs and the details of the pillows. Here are some pics so you can see what I'm talking about...

my latest projects

I am in love with Hallmark's new line of adhesive wrap. Instead of using it as wrapping paper, which I plan to do in the future, I used it to line the back of our kitchen cabinets. It works great as shelf paper! Plus the designs are fun and add a little flair to boring cabinets. They turned out so cute, I was almost tempted to take the doors off to show off the pretty paper :-)
Another little project I did was I tied ribbon around our white canisters from Bed, Bath and Beyond to tie them in with our new color scheme.

paint scheme for living room
Johnny and I are in the process of redecorating our living room. Last weekend we went to go look at paint colors and instead of going to the good ol home depot we decided to try something different. I have heard a lot of good things about benjamin moore paint, so we stopped into the store to check it out. When I first saw the prices, I almost walked out...$54.99 for a gallon of paint! But as I learned about it, I realized that we could actually save money if this paints as good as they claim it is. They have this new line called Aura. The great thing about it is you don't need a primer or a second coat and it dries in an hour. They claimed that we could paint our entire living room with 1 gallon. I'm still a little skeptical, but if it works like they say it does, then I am forever sold on Benjamin Moore paint and will never use anything else. Here is the paint scheme that we picked out:

my new book

Johnny and I were at Barnes and Noble one evening about a year ago and I spotted this book. I wanted it SO bad, but I just couldn't bring myself to pay 40 bucks for it, so reluctantly I put it back on the shelf and forgot about it until now. The other day, I walked into halfprice books and went to the art section and I there it was! HALF-PRICE! Now it is sitting pretty on top of my desk :-)
